Evergreen Cemetery

With her husband away serving in the army, it fell on Elizabeth Thorn to look after the Evergreen Cemetery.  On the first day, despite being six months pregnant guided men of the 11th Corps through town to the hills to the north, cooked for General Howard, and took care of her three sons.  After the battle, it fell upon her and her father to bury the dead that had fallen on the cemetery grounds all while being six months pregnant.
