Little Round Top

Confusion between Dan Sickles and George Meade left Little Round Top unguarded when Longstreet’s attack  day attack started.  While not an objective of the attack, a series of unforeseen events brought confederates to Little Round Top from two different directions.  Quick action by Brig. Gen. Gouverneur K. Warren, Meade’s chief engineer, alerted Union officers to the Confederate threat and brought Federal reinforcements to defend Little Round Top.
