The Loop is a park road that goes up Stony Hill. The hill was part of the farm owned by George and Dorothy Rose. Their farm became a focal point of Confederate second day attack on George Sickles Third Crop line running from the Peach Orchard to Devil’s Den. Union commanders rushed reinforcements to Sickles line so you will find monuments to regiments from various corps including the Second, Third, and the Fifth. But the reinforcements were not enough and Union line couldn’t hold and the entire Rose Farm fell into confederate hands.
